Julie Puttgen

What I Did This Summer: turn down sensible summer teaching jobs, accept invitations to beautiful places, and travel. In consequence of course I am broke, and the current Julie Puttgen Austerity Plan has me eating more home-cooked chickpeas than usual. Bah!

The Kalimera Blue photographs in this issue of the Rat are from Lausanne, Andros, London, New Hampshire, and California. Kalimera means good morning, when morning means the-time-you-stop-sleeping (even if it’s noon). Blue happens to be the color of summer somehow: clouds, sky, big water, all the paint ever sold on Andros, the spacious mind unconstrained by worry.

I am also including here a couple of entries from the written journals I kept alongside the photographs.
